Position Objective:  

ITW Drawform is a $200M USD Division within Illinois Tool Works’ Automotive Segment.  It has an excellent reputation for delivering top results and exceeding customer expectations within the deep draw industry.

 

The project manager leads the planning and execution of assigned projects. The role is responsible for managing multiple, concurrent project plan schedules while monitoring projects daily to track progress against the work plan schedules – this requires proactively communicating with internal stakeolders and external suppliers. The project manager identifies any risks to time or deliverables, communicates those out to the appropriate teams and follows-up on issues throughout the project.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Coordinate interactions between functional departments and internal stakeholders to develop, define, manage and execute project plans to ensure the timely completion of the new jobs and projects within the quality and customer requirements.

·         Prepare, maintain and update product / program timing schedules, ensuring all milestones are maintained by leading, motivating and supporting the team and vendors as needed.

·         Develop and implement reports that measure project progress and identify challenges that need to be addressed; communicate the findings to the project team and leading a strategy for resolution.

·         Communicate the project status to management and relevant parties and direct weekly update meetings, identifying critical path items and escalating as necessary.

·         Prepare product and process feasibility studies and all other APQP documentation required.

·         In conjunction with sales, provide support and act as the program/project manager, the single point of contact with the customer’s engineering, design, supplier quality and program management personnel.

·         Assist in defining early containment actions for new products.

·         Assess and effectively communicate potential high-risk failure modes for new products, and ensure appropriate preventive measures are suggested and taken.

·         Assist with 1st party Quality System audits of new suppliers and/or new supplier processes, as required.

·         Review first time control plans, PFMEA’s, process flow diagrams, bar code labels, generate process routings and processing parameters. 

·         Assist in the review and development of gage concepts with quality, suppliers and customers to ensure on-time and adequate gaging concepts that capture end use function.

·         Assist in the design review process of new tools and processes, providing detailed knowledge of end use as well as communicating customer specific requirements that may impact tooling strategy.

·         Assist in the developing a solution for packaging / labeling per the customer and internal requirements

·         Coordinate and oversee the integration on all levels the impact of suppliers’ processes on internal part prints, gage strategies and material handling plans.

·         Work with supplier quality in developing capacity for new suppliers, ensuring the proper systems for quality and delivery.

·         Assist in managing outside suppliers during prototype and launch phases.

·         Participate in the sourcing decisions for supplier processes.

·         Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and devise contingency plans.

·         Conduct post project reviews to identify successful project performance drivers and methods to resolve project results that did not fully meet objectives

·         Perform other duties as required or requested.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.

·         2 – 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, automotive preferred.

·         Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate and promote personal accountability

·         Strong communication and project management skills.

·         Multi-tasking with the ability to develop, maintain and balance multiple project schedules.

·         Thorough understanding of blueprint tolerancing and GD&T standards
