ITW Drawform is a $200M USD Division within Illinois Tool Works’ Automotive Segment.  It has an excellent reputation for delivering top results and exceeding customer expectations within the deep draw and aerosol can industries. The Division utilizes fully automated production stamping presses, inspection equipment, and finishing operations which requires robust controls schemes to promote reliability throughout the various systems


We are seeking a reliable and meticulous Master Electrician to join our exceptional team. The key duties of the master electrician include utilizing various tools for electrical system installation and maintenance, adhering to safety protocols, meticulously documenting projects and updating client records, offering estimates for material costs and project timelines, and mentoring apprentices. Proficiency in diagnosing electrical issues and delivering exceptional customer service is also essential.

The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in blueprint interpretation, adeptness in using diagnostic equipment, and the capacity to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations. Exceptional master electricians demonstrate a solid understanding of their trade and excel in passing on their expertise to apprentices.

Essential Functions:

  • Installing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems.
  • Sourcing or fabricating replacement electrical components.
  • Interpreting blueprints and drawing of ‘As Builds” for design change.
  • Guiding and overseeing other apprentices or journeyman electricians.
  • Drawing up preventative maintenance measures and explaining these to clients and other electricians.
  • Obtaining required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
  • Testing and troubleshooting systems.
  • Providing assistance during emergencies.
  • Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for clients.
  • Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians.
  • Maintains OSHA and regulatory compliance for design, manufacture and operations of automation and controls.

Qualifications:

  • Holds current Michigan Master Electrical License
  • 2-4 years of Allen Bradley 5,00, 500 Software, Kinetix, Motion Systems (PLC Knowledge), and Relay Logic
  • A valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
  • Experience with power tools and other equipment used in construction.
  • Firm grasp of health and safety codes.
  • Patience when teaching apprentices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (equipment suppliers, outside engineers) to support project development activities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Self-starter; works with minimal supervision; capable of offering up and making decisions.
  • Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Team-player with aptitude to learn the ITW culture and work within a fast-pace environment.
