Sales Development Manager

This sales development position drives sales penetration through influence and support of a nationwide, distinguished field selling organization.  In this position you will own and target key market segments focused within regional accounts and Food Retail Equipment Distributors (FREDs) and develop action plans to grow share and meet planned sales goals.  As the Sales Development Manager, you will be proficient in articulating the value propositions of Weigh Wrap products (weighing and wrapping equipment and software applications). You will also provide support through customer presentations, training, strategic planning (e.g. pricing, promotions, competitive analysis), and execution.  Other responsibilities include seeding new products in market and providing product knowledge support to the sales team.    A competitive and winning attitude are essential as the SDM develops and executes tactical plans to meet sales goals, including market share gains in a highly competitive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify new opportunities to convert into new business unit sales for both existing and new customers
  • Develop, implement, and deliver product presentations tailored to customers as appropriate
  • Manage multiple customer accounts with the same product types to capitalize on potential growth opportunities
  • Prepare and maintain annual sales forecasts and monthly reports for assigned accounts
  • Maintain direct contact and interfaces with customer engineering, IT, product development, and purchasing organizations
  • Provide exceptional customer service dealing with issues including but not limited to delivery, product quality, product design, and pricing
  • Update management regarding account risks and opportunities recommending actions to mitigate risk and exploit opportunities
  • Participate in the development of long‐term objectives including the development of strategies, goals, and plans for accounts
  • Achieve and/or exceed sales and profit margin goals and objectives
  • Technical product expert and ability to train others on products through presentations and hands-on experiences
  • Coordinate product development and launches with team to ensure new products meet customer expectations, specifications, and timing requirements

Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with relevant work experience
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in selling and/or marketing products in a business-to-business marketplace
  • Ability to interact, communicate, present and sell to customers at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop sales, marketing and pricing strategies
  • Experience with quoting, negotiations and product profitability contributors
  • Strong familiarity with sales and marketing functions within the food equipment market
  • Capacity to understand, develop and communicate compelling value propositions
  • Technical aptitude
  • Proven track record of successful sales execution
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
