Product Manager

This position is responsible for the management of an assigned group of both retail and industrial products marketed domestically and internationally under our flagship Permatex brand. There is a strong focus on day-to-day management, profitability, and new product development within specific product lines. Specifically, you will initiate, coordinate and lead in the commercialization of new products and manage activities affecting profitability, including product life cycle management and cost-savings projects backed with a data-driven, customer-centric approach. You will report to the Director of Marketing and partner with Brand, Sales, and R&D to create product opportunities that drive volume and growth for the Engine Repair division of ITW, a Fortune 200 manufacturing firm.

This position is ideal for a candidate with 2-3 years of experience and a proven focus on delivering results in a fast-paced environment. Your customers will include large retail accounts such as AutoZone, Advance Auto, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Tractor Supply.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:       

  • Build complex product line strategies and supporting business cases
  • Own the development of Product Roadmaps (1-3 year plan) and annual growth strategies (12 month) activities to hit aggressive margin and revenue targets
  • Rationalization of obsolete, slow-moving and low margin products as part of overall Product Lifecycle Management
  • Coordinate with brand marketing team on product launches and external sales/marketing communications
  • Category Leadership - Derive business insights and relevant market opportunities through the development, analysis & execution of syndicated data and market research
  • Own the Project Management portion of all assigned projects to deliver on accelerated timelines
  • Product Marketing – Works closely with brand team to develop marketing and training materials
  • Day-to-Day Product Management - inventory management, product sales performance, product quality management, and manufacturing

Qualifications:

Requirements of the job:

  • Bachelors in Business / Marketing or a related field
  • 2-3 years experience in an Product Management / Insights / Innovation function
  • A demonstrable understanding of new product development, portfolio management, and product commercialization
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and challenges
  • Consumer Goods marketing & Automotive Aftermarket marketing and/or sales experience a plus
  • Strong Data analysis, reporting, presentation and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • At least 80% presence (4days/wk) at Solon, OH office/manufacturing facility
