We are looking for a growth-minded Operations Director to be based in Glenview, IL that will provide appropriate emphasis on delighting our customers amidst their growing demand, while continuing to instill a premier safety culture amongst our set of sites. This role will Drive strategic decisions to optimize global manufacturing and distribution footprint to drive down total delivered cost and maintain best-in-class customer service levels
The Operations Director will serve as a critical member of the Residential & Renovation leadership team. The Operations Director is responsible for developing a high-performance team that manages the functions of manufacturing, supply chain, and on time deliveries to our customers. The role ensures timely delivery of a quality product, in quantities that meet sales demand and at a cost that insures profitability and growth consistent with ITW objectives.
The Operations Director will provide strategic leadership over all R&R operations sites, including nail manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, China, and Pocahontas, AR, as well as distribution centers in Bartlett (including packaging operations) and Elgin, IL, and Grand Prairie, TX. In addition to the multi-site leadership this role is also responsible for leading the and the materials management team.
We are seeking an accomplished leader with experience navigating internal and external partnerships with an enterprise-first mindset, an appreciation for global supply chain trends, and an ability to partner with ITW’s Strategic Sourcing team to drive for the best customer and divisional outcomes, all while upholding strict safety standards and using dedicated focus and discipline as governed by ITW’s business model.
Talent export to our enterprise is an important priority to our high-visibility division. Enhancing the depth and diversity of our Operations talent pipeline to grow more enterprise Operations leaders is a critical requirement of the Operations Director role.
This opportunity provides the unique experience to inherit an ITW Model Factory and have global manufacturing leadership experience with the oversight of our operations in Shanghai.

Develop strategic manufacturing and distribution center plans to establish procedures for maintaining high standards of operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
Robust demand planning processes with strong coordination with sales and marketing
Collaborate across the organization by working with regional and global manufacturing and sourcing functions to implement strategies and action plans that deliver the most efficient and effective supply chain and distribution. Consistently reduces costs through productivity gains and souring improvements.
Provide strong leadership to the division’s safety programs ensuring employee engagement in safety that sustains or develops a strong safety culture.
Execute division’s inventory and procurement processes working with both third party and intercompany partners.
Define key performance metrics and monitor performance to exceed KPI targets.
Oversee the management of inventory to ensure that customer service levels delight our customers while managing to ITW’s inventory philosophy.
Ensure compliance with compliance with state and federal regulations and company standards.
Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity, and reduce cost, scrap and rework.
Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations,
Graduate Degree or Masters in Business Administration preferred
Minimum of ten of progressive professional experience
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in operations environment
Minimum of five years of people management experience with a proven track record of success
A demonstrated personal passion and commitment to safety and driving a safety culture
Proven business results in improving operational performance.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Working knowledge of local and federal governmental requirements (EPA, OSHA)
Travel required up to 40%, including internationally to Asia
Global supply chain and manufacturing experience highly desired
