• Prepare quotes, proposals, technical specifications, and statement of work documents in response to requests for custom hardware or software from the Sales and Marketing organization
• Execution of all custom product orders from order receipt to final shipment (and occasionally installation), meeting or exceeding commercial and performance objectives (technical specification, safety, on-time, on-budget, customer satisfaction)
• Works closely with R&D Engineering on hybrid development projects, with the aim of proactively developing product solutions with repeat sales potential
• Direct supervision and growth management of a staff of technical professionals including mechanical, and electrical engineers, senior engineers, and principal engineers, as well as engineering technicians, designers, and additional contract resources.
• Lead the custom engineering processes associated with business order pursuit. Includes the development of competitive engineered solutions, technical specifications, proposals, risk assessment and cost estimates.
• Management of all aspects of projects associated with the custom business order backlog, including schedule, technical performance, cost and safety.
• Identification of resource requirements including hiring of full-time and contract personnel in response to changing business needs.
• Allocation of resources and project assignments based on required skill sets and resource availability.
• Support Instron Service and customers to address issues with Custom Engineered Solutions installed at customer sites.
