ITW Europe Engineered Products:

EUEP is a platform within the Automotive OEM segment.  With revenues of totaling approx. $530M, the EUEP products include plastic, stamped, cold-headed and powertrain fasteners sold to European OEMs and Tier suppliers.  The platform also includes the ITW Auto Brazil business unit which sells plastic fasteners and other auto components to the Brazilian market.

Joachim Mitnacht is the Group President of the EUEP platform and based in Germany.  Other members of the management team include Vice President/General Managers (3 – 2 in France, 1 in Germany), GM (1 in Brazil ), Platform HR Director located in the UK and a Platform Strategic Marketing Director located in the UK.


The Platform Controller is a core member of the management team and partners with the Group President to successfully lead and profitably grow the business.  The incumbent is responsible for providing strong leadership to the finance team and oversees various functions, including financial reporting & analysis, capital expenditures and restructuring, asset management and resource allocation, internal accounting controls, compliance with financial policies, and operating analysis and reporting. This position serves as the functional financial leader for the four division controllers.

Qualifications:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides strong financial leadership and business judgment by partnering with the management team to set annual and long range strategic direction of the business and aligning resources, systems, & processes against market opportunities that provide for strong returns and long-term, sustainable differentiation.
  • Recommends and evaluates business opportunities using various financial tools (e.g. capital expenditures, restructurings, etc.). Provides support for platform and division level decision making and strategy execution.
  • Identifies connections in data and trends and quickly assimilates external information (e.g. market drivers, macroeconomic conditions, etc.) to anticipate impact across divisions.
  • Develops and integrates best practice across the divisions, ensuring the best use of effective financial tools and processes. 
  • Champions and shares expertise of the FTB 80/20 process to drive focus and growth while reducing complexity and improving operating performance across the Divisions.
  • Develops and implements a robust talent & organization strategy to ensure the finance organization has the right structure, skills, and capabilities in-place to execute on the needs of the business.  Builds and inspires a diverse, high performing finance team.
  • Builds and leverages relationships and networks across the business. Uses personal influence skills rather than position power to persuade others and gain support.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 – 15+ years of broad financial experience, including leadership responsibilities for a multi-location, global manufacturing business. Experience reporting to a senior line executive responsible for the profit and loss of a business unit preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree.  Master’s degree & CPA preferred.
  • Previous experience in the dynamic consumer products market dealing with major retailers, consumer research, and large commercial spending budgets
  • Strong track record of driving operational improvements to support the business strategy
  • Ability to understand and apply business knowledge to help drive business results through organic growth drivers, innovation and competitive marketing knowledge
  • Proven results in managing and developing talent through inclusive and effective leadership
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills. Able to simplify strategy into business objectives.
  • Must be willing to travel both domestic and international
  • Demonstrated abilities to work cross functionally at all levels of the organization

Job Preferences:

  • Previous operating finance responsibility of $200M+complete business entity.
  • Acquisition, integration, and divesture experience a plus
