  • Develops, trains, evaluates and counsels employees. Communicates with staff and provides feedback. Cross trains employees in the various areas of the department. Maintains employee skills checkoff sheet as new skills are learned or remediation identified. 

  • Schedules Production as orders are received based on Customer Agreements, standard lead times and due date requests. Manages priorities in scheduling and adjusts as needed. 

  • Maintain production metrics and data such as lead times, cost savings tracking and scrap in order to recommend and drive improvements that help reduce waste and costs and improve yields and efficiencies.  

  • Communicates with Customer Service and Operations when and why adjustments to lead times are required. Reasonable options should be exhausted before extending lead times. 

  • Directs and coordinates the activities of manufacturing personnel to ensure effective and efficient production.   

  • Works with staff to maintain focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques. Documenting processes and maintaining work instructions. 

  • Assigns projects to personnel based on employee availability and abilities. Effectively utilizes staff, equipment and other resources to minimize overtime and maximize on time and efficiency. This includes scheduling work hours and approving time away from work. 

  • Responsible for safe actions of personnel and safe work environment of area. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws. 

  • Overall responsibility for quality and integrity of product. Conduct quality audits to ensure methods and processes are up-to-date. 

  • Communicates with Customer Service potential late orders and advises expected ship date. 

  • Embraces the USI Values and Encourages employee involvement. 

  • Manages the maintenance and operation of production equipment.  Makes recommendations for service and or replacement. 

  • Manages Parcel Services ensuring shipments processed properly and systems are in order 

  • Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience required  

  • Highly motivated and results oriented.  

  • Highly knowledgeable of manufacturing processes and stays current in assembly/manufacturing technology and trends  

  • Strong working knowledge of business financials and accounting practices. 

  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, managing business unit budgets. 

  • Strong knowledge of EHS requirements – drives ongoing improvements in local safety standards/performance 

  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Demonstrated presentation skills 

  • Strong project management skills and possesses the ability to multi-task 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to motivate people, asses and develop employee skills.
