Job purpose

The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization in maximizing the value it receives from its investment in enterprise software and line-of-business applications. The BA is a liaison between departments (the business end of the organization) and the providers of services.  Principally the BA will interface with Super Users or Managers in the business user community in the pursuit of process improvement, simplification or change.

The BA will develop a strong understanding of Instron’s business processes and of the software being used in the enterprise. The BA is a key contributor to and major driver of the ongoing improvement and simplification of Instron’s business processes.

In addition, the BA helps developing and maintaining software solutions. The trend for software solutions is away from large home-grown applications towards the configuration of third-party applications, the development of integration solutions, and the development of small applications that support human workflows.

The BA is a key player in the governance of the worldwide business processes as they apply to the ERP systems and their interfaces.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

The BA objective is to provide assistance to Define, Develop, Maintain, and Support users, in the business system across all Instron functions and sites globally. This work is done through highly collaborative, cross-departmental effort in which the BA responsibility is to develop technical configuration models and potential solutions, and to drive the implementation of the decisions that follow. Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users.

The primary responsibilities of the BA are:

  1. Analyzing business needs and identifying business problems
  2. Gathering, defining, and documenting business requirements
  3. Documenting and mapping business processes
  4. Ensuring proposed solutions or changes are consistent with existing or changed worldwide process flow.
  5. Proposing solutions to business problems and simplifying business processes by leading and participating in USa projects
  6. Contributing to the simplification of Enterprise Application Architecture
  7. Providing support for a wide range of business applications; may include documentation and training
  8. Performing data analysis and data aggregation using BI and other data analysis tools
  9. Evaluating vendors and new products as needed
  10. Advising and occasional training of Super users and Managers on process flow and detail in particular
  11. Managing projects to deliver the above or assisting in the management of larger programmes or projects

In addition to the traditional responsibilities mentioned above, the BA will also cover the following roles:

Design and development

  • Writes use cases and requirement specifications
  • Writes test cases and perform software testing

Other

  • Is a contributor to the definition, the documentation,  and the ongoing improvement of IT internal workflows and processes
  • Helps enforcing policies and standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, IT, Engineering or a related field

  • Thorough understanding of general Business Processes & Workflow

  • Ability to work autonomously, as a team member, and as a team leader
  • Strong communication, negotiation, project leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to form effective working relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Capacity and ability to adapt to developing and fast moving programmes/projects
