The Strategic Sourcing Senior Analyst is responsible for mining and analyzing data, driving compliance of Strategic Sourcing opportunities, driving improved cost position with the supply base, and assisting in commodity/category strategy development at the Corporate level and execution at the Business Unit/Segment level. The position will support, identify, and quantify sourcing opportunities via data analysis, spend analysis, stakeholder interviews, market trends and other resources; and drive compliance of cost avoidance opportunities and other sourcing initiatives across the enterprise in one or more commodities. The person will also be responsible for creating and analyzing reports, partnering across the organization to improve financial results, and providing a thorough analysis on financial results compared to budget, forecast, and prior year performance- demonstrating a strong understanding of the key business drivers. It is imperative that this person is able to provide innovative solutions and work across different business units.

Key Deliverables:

Data mining and analysis

  • Take existing internal and external Excel data to evaluate and communicate anomalies as well as opportunities. Review data for accurate taxonomies
  • Resolve internal and external data calculation errors and validate final calculations
  • Provide comprehensive analysis to support strategic sourcing solutions

Coordinate requests for RFQ’s

  • Work with the Functional areas to obtain and validate commodity sourcing requirements
  • Work with the ITW supply base to ensure a timely and efficient RFQ process
  • Create comprehensive analysis of supplier quotations to aid in the sourcing selection and contract negotiation process

Market Analysis

  • Capture market data and create comprehensive market summaries that will aid in sourcing strategies
  • Work with Finance to capture and communicate forecast information
  • Create and maintain direct materials database

Basic Qualifications:

Data Analytics

  • Ability to lead the process of data collection and analysis of spend data to develop commodity/category strategies and opportunity prioritization
  • Gather and synthesize supplier, market and industry information to provide recommendations to Strategic Sourcing team

Commodity, Supply Base, & Market Knowledge

  • Ability to develop basic understanding of assigned commodities, including but not limited to: current market conditions, key cost drivers, global supply base, and industry terminology, as it relates to creating competitive purchasing programs for ITW companies

Business Acumen/Leadership & Communication Skills

  • Fast learner that demonstrates strong business acumen and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and working with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, presentation and management using MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience in project management for projects ranging from $10mm-$70mm
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain.
  • 4+ years of experience in sourcing/purchasing in a metals environment procuring carbon steels, stainless steel and non-ferrous working directly with both mills and service centers OR 4+ years of experience in a sourcing role that manufactures or uses metals for stamping, machining or fabrications.  OR direct procurement or supply chain management of commodity metals in a multi-segment environment
  • Willingness to travel 20%
  • CPSM Certification preferred
