ITW Specialty Films, a global division of ITW within the Specialty Segment, manufactures and markets specialized coated films for the Secure ID, Medical Specialty Bag, and Financial Card markets. The division leverages unique core competencies and technologies in films, foils, laminates, and holography to address customer needs. The division operates in 5 manufacturing facilities (US, UK, and Germany), and offers a fun, fast-paced work environment with a dynamic, collaborative, growth-oriented team.


Under the direction of the Global Product Manager, this position will profitably grow the candidate’s strategic marketing acumen by analyzing, developing and implementing product line strategies and tactics. The Marketing Intern will work as a junior global product manager allowing for visibility into product line ownership, utilization of data for effective product development and management of product portfolio strategy. This is a hybrid position with 4 days a week expected on site throughout the summer of 2025. This position is based at ITW’s Corporate office (155 Harlem Ave, Glenview, Illinois 60025).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports Global Product Manager with new product development from concept generation to execution, gathering voice of customers and leverages the information into developing solutions.
  • Monitoring and analyzing competitive activity, customer, and market trends.
  • Providing actionable insights to guide the marketing and/or sales teams.
  • Contributing to the development of sales and marketing plans and objectives.
  • Forecasting demand, revenue, and expenses.
  • Determining sales potential and making recommendations.
  • Assisting in highly visible projects with direct impact to current processes and procedures to be used long-term
  • Collaborating with account managers to analyze and provide recommendations on customer data.
  • Effectively collects and synthesizes market insights.
  • Leads and communicates strategic competitive analysis and marketing assessment.
  • Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety directions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Potential Projects:
    • Review of current marketing communications materials & brochures for all markets
    • Market Research on Sustainability in the Secure Identification market
    • Development of a Security Feature Database with all competitive players for Passports, Drivers Licenses, & National Identification Cards.
    • Support of New Product Development Projects

Qualifications:

  • School Enrollment: A rising senior who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Office Suites: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.  
  • Critical Thinking & Decision Making: Ability to make logical and sound decisions and ability to know when to act independently and when to seek assistance.
  • Analytical skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Curiosity & Learning Orientation:  Actively identifying new areas for learning and applying newly gained knowledge/skill on the job.
  • Drive to Excel:  Driven to succeed and willing to go the extra mile.  Perseveres in the face of obstacles and challenges.
  • Interpersonal Skills & communication:  Ability to work collaboratively and partner well with others, express oneself verbally and in writing, and listen well.

Working Conditions and Requirements:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Limited physical effort required. Frequent sitting and standing.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk. Some manufacturing plant exposures to machinery and flammable substances. Requires provided PPE (safety shoes and glasses) in plant areas.
