Position Summary: 

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the performance and development of the maintenance and automation teams, and will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.   

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure effective Safety procedures are in-place and that the team is following them (Examples include LOTO, Arc Flash Safety, Live Work Precautions, Respirator use, PPE for bridged throats, PPE when using torch, hot work permits).   

  • Work with Training Lead to Maintain the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program. Participate in check-in meetings, document completed trainings based on notes from Training Lead, ensure that the training schedule is followed).  

  • Demonstrate commitment to maintenance shop organization, housekeeping & cleanliness. Work with the team to pursue and maintain 5S initiatives, and ensure we do the same with work areas on the production floor (Leaving presses or equipment in a better state than we found them).   

  • Work with Maintenance Lead to coordinate priorities and to communicate updates to relevant departments.  

  • Manage Electrician spend in Smartsheet tracker on a weekly basis; maintain a priority list for the electrician onsite. Ensure hours are being billed correctly, and monitor expenses to ensure time is being spent responsibly. Communicate daily with the electrician regarding the priority list. 

  • Provide feedback and follow-up to maintenance and automation technicians on their daily work as well as their involvement in the training program. Complete mid-year and end-of-year performance reviews. Ensure feedback is given throughout the year, not just at review-time.  

  • Coordinate and schedule Equipment PM’s to complete at least 9 PM’s per month, and complete all overdue PM’s. Ensure all data and information is recorded in the Fiix maintenance system.  

  • Coordinate Parts and Service requests. Maintain communication with parts and service departments to ensure the best possible delivery and arrival dates for machine repairs. When service technicians are in the building, ensure that expectations and directions are clear, and that any suggested follow-up actions take place. Always confirm the service is complete before signing service reports. Save service reports into Fiix system. Manage screw stocking program to ensure timely delivery of IMM screws when they are found to be worn.  

  • Support Manufacturing making resources available to troubleshoot, and act as a resource for problem-solving, ensuring that logical steps are taken when faced with a safety, quality or production challenge. Encourage problem-solving through teamwork. Foster a productive and positive culture, especially when working with other departments.  

  • Support manufacturing facility in working with manufacturing engineers and production team to prioritize and implement continuous improvement Ideas that have been submitted by employees throughout the building. Give special attention to ones submitted by technicians.  

  • Submit Purchase Orders, Review and approve invoices and expenses to ensure billing can take place in the month that the expense occurs. 

  • Manage facility maintenance projects and vendors. Ensure vendors and contractors have clear scopes for their work, understand safety procedures, stay within budget and are performing work as quoted/instructed. 

  • Write Capex requests, and ensure that projects are carried-out within budget. 

  • With the help of your team, plan and execute projects, ensuring all involved departments are on-board and participating as needed. 

  • Review & approve time cards, manage benefit time for department and uphold attendance policies. 

  • Maintain and organize Fiix software, and any records needed for internal or external audits (Example: IATF or customer audits of maintenance processes). Save into Fiix all service reports, any files or measurements taken on the machine, notes from repairs, and necessary preventative maintenance items.  

  • Lead weekly team meetings to communicate Safety, Training, Shop Housekeeping, and Production priorities 

  • Participate in the daily Gemba Walk and Operational Priorities meeting  

  • Manage responses to power outages, fire alarms, tornado alarms, ComEd Needs, security system alarms, Chiller and Air Compressor Alarms, HVAC and plumbing breakdowns.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, organization and interpersonal skills 

  • Strong written and e-mail communication skills, ability to communicate professionally with different vendors and service providers in both critical and non-critical situations. 

  • Work with maintenance lead to ensure there is appropriate coverage and communication for weekend operations 

  • Ability to understand and communicate mechanical and electrical situations. 

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback, developing strong relationships within and outside the department. 

  • High level of computer literacy required (Managing Fiix maintenance system, managing and navigating through Smartsheet, managing Outlook calendar and communications, leading Microsoft Teams meetings, using Trans4m ERP system for writing purchase requisitions, creating work instructions when needed) 

  • Supervisory experience required, preferably over areas involving safety programs such as LOTO and Electrical Safety 

  • Electrical and mechanical backgrounds are helpful, primarily to ensure safety procedures are effective and being followed 

  • Able to function independently, exercising independent judgment and decision making  

  • All other duties as assigned or directed 

  • 2-year Associate’s Degree, preferred not required
