SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer will audit and help maintain Traulsen’s Quality Management System. Work with Quality auditors, Incoming Inspectors, Service, Engineering and Purchasing to resolve and contain quality issues as they arise. Develop and Implement Corrective Action plans to address quality issues.  Work with Engineering and Operations to improve our design and processes to prevent quality issues from arising. Continuous Improvement of End of Line Quality Testing. Perform research and provide data to help make strategic decisions on warranty improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to analyze data and suggest Corrective Action
  • Experience with a formal Quality Management System (Such as ISO)
  • Experience working with Incoming Inspection and Quality Auditors/Inspectors
  • Work with engineering department to create and document DFMEA and DV&P test plans for critical components.
  • Work with procurement department  to validate new suppliers through off-site visits and reliability testing of their products.
  • Work with the procurement department to develop and document current suppliers with a supplier scorecard, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Work with Sustain Engineering on cost reduction projects related to material, labor, and warranty.

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years’ experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings specifications, including geometric tolerance and welding specifications.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) MS Project and MS Access a plus
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, CAD, and 3D model viewer/software, including attribute assignments.

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering , preferably Mechanical Engineering

  • Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days and at the times scheduled by the supervisor.
  • Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive manner
  • Working temperatures vary with seasonal changes where climate control is limited.  The environment is one in which noise exists.
  • Sit on a forklift, stand, walk, squat, climb, or crawl for a combined minimum of eight (8) hours per day on a concrete surface. 
  • Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds.  Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistance
  • Pull and push up to 100 pounds.
  • Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
  • May perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees and arms while performing duties.  
  • Handle small hand tools and power tools.  Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.
  • Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.
  • Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms).
  • Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, hearing protection, harnesses, hard hats)
