To perform Nylon operations in accordance with MTS Nylon procedures and work instructions, and to provide parts and assemblies to internal and external customers that meet quality and schedule requirements.

  1. Performs material surface preparation through multiple methods including, but not limited to: sandblasting, abrading, degreasing, washing, chemically treating, masking.
  2. Performs Nylon application to heated parts in conjunction with MTS Nylon procedures. Heats parts to correct temperature for melting the nylon coatings by the use of oven or induction heater.
  3. Applies coating to heated surfaces by use of spray powder system and monitors process to ensure proper coating adhesion and thickness.
  4. Performs normal preventative maintenance, including the monitoring chemical compounds, etching solutions and the consistency of solutions.
  5. Demonstrates an understanding of MTS machining prints and meets print requirements as they pertain to nylon.
  6. Demonstrates an understanding of the Machine Shop routing system.
  7. Demonstrates an ability to inspect and verify critical features both in process and post.
  8. Willing to help resolve issues regarding schedules and priorities.
  9. Provides feedback to area supervisor on quality problems, trends and workload.
  10. Initiates creative and/or innovative ideas and shows willingness to implement them.
  11. Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner. Identifies safety hazards and involves appropriate support persons.
  12. Takes initiative and makes decisions to meet the customers' expectations.
  13. Keeps work area clean and well organized while working in conjunction with personnel from both shifts.
  14. Performs all Nylon duties in an efficient manner, utilizes process cycle time to complete multiple tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D equivalency.
  • Four years machine shop experience or four years painting or powder coating experience.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30-40 pounds.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, including with colleagues, supervisor, and customers.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet demands of other work stations.
