Primary Objective:

This Custom Software Engineering role will act as a lead developer of MTS software used to control complex electro-hydraulic systems. This software role is responsible for the design, creation, test, and continual improvement of MTS software focused on high performance simulation, analysis, and motion control. This role requires strong interest and skill in software product development, close collaboration with the electrical and mechanical engineers and focus on our customers.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Technical leader responsible for the development, maintenance and troubleshooting of software for custom systems.
  • Responsible for delivering software solutions on schedule and within the budget for each project.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure that new systems perform to required specifications.
  • Discover and implement improvement opportunities throughout the software development process.
  • Understand, advocate, and contribute to the product vision focused on performance, capability, and ease-of-use.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working in all phases of the software development lifecycle from planning to deployment and product support.
  • Software development experience in C, C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Capacity to think creatively to troubleshoot and debug complex software and mechatronics.
  • Comfortable with training customers and ability to provide responsive customer support of software issues.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to customer sites for system installation and troubleshooting.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressively demanding experience in the areas of software development, software integration, software architecture, systems engineering, mechatronics, or related fields.
  • User interface design experience using C#, .NET and/or Python.
  • Experience with digital signal processing techniques, signal conditioning and electronics.
