Our Power Systems Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Electrical Engineering team. This person will focus on electrical and software leadership as part of New Product Development.  This team member will be a key contributor in the investigation, development, and implementation of hardware and software solutions for new and innovative engine drive products with primary focus on analog and digital control circuits, power supply design, and power electronics.  This individual will also help lead common best practices on product development projects to accelerate the New Product Development lifecycle. This position requires a highly motivated individual with exceptional communications and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with engineering teams, marketing, and product management to develop innovative and reliable products to serve our customer needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Primary responsibility will be to manage the electrical, hardware and software  design, programming, and development of PSD projects
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and project deliverables
  • Effectively work with electrical, software, mechanical, and welding engineers to take projects from original concept through implementation.
  • Participate in hardware and software designs and development of PSD projects.
  • Perform testing and documentation on new designs.
  • Participate in project meetings and be responsible for assigned action items.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and project deliverables.
  • Make use of all Miller knowledge (libraries and modular designs) to rapidly pick up, understand and deploy
  • Help drive the team forward by making key decisions as soon as practical to keep the team focused.
  • Drives projects forward with cross-functional technical direction.
  • Identify innovative patentable solutions to end market needs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 4-8 years’ experience
  • Demonstrated results in leading teams and projects.
  • Problem solve through the application of troubleshooting techniques, testing, and as necessary redesign.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in embedded system development including system architecture, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, thermal management, design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA), system troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Understanding of electrical circuity design for both digital and analog applications.
  • Good understanding of various power supply topologies
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting hardware technology (i.e. reading electrical schematics and using multimeters and oscilloscopes)
  • Experience designing & testing to 3rd party (UL/CSA/CE) standards
  • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing process
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency while balancing calculated risks.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Must be self-starter and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Limited travel may be required

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum software development process in a team environment
  • Experience designing with power electronics at a multi-kilowatt level
  • Magnetics design experience including Flyback, forward, and full bridge transformers as well as inductors.
  • Working knowledge of power conversion control systems
